Maria is a licensed master of social work who received her MSW from Tulane in 2016 and her BA from the University of Michigan in 2014. She completed her clinical internship at CrescentCare where she provided individual therapy and case management. After her internship she worked as a comprehensive sex and mental health educator and as an addiction counselor, before returning to the CrescentCare team. In 2018 she joined as the Behavioral Health Therapist for the +LOVE program. Her therapeutic background is grounded in radical social and racial justice paradigms, incorporating trauma informed interventions and a strengths-based approach. She utilizes mindful based stress reduction and attachment focused EMDR, a therapy that focuses on processing past negative and traumatic experiences that may still be impacting our daily lives. Maria works authentically with clients to collaborate on the types of treatment that will most empower them on their path to healing.
