HIV PEP is a way to stop HIV from infecting you after a possible exposure. It works best when given as soon as possible after an exposure, and definitely within 72-hours of the exposure. CrescentCare handles this as an emergency, with an immediate same-day appointment. If you believe you have had an exposure in the last 72-hours, call 504.207.2273 and inform the person answering the phone you are in need of a visit for HIV PEP. CrescentCare has a team of HIV prevention and treatment specialists who can initiate medications to prevent HIV acquisition during your visit, and will monitor you during your treatment course.
