Rapid HIV Testing

Rapid HIV Testing describes opportunities to access particular devices used to detect HIV. These rapid tests are able to produce results in 1-20 minutes by detecting the presence of HIV antibodies or antigens in a small sample of blood. At CresentCare, when an individual receives a positive result on a rapid HIV test, a second (confirmatory) test is conducted before the individual is linked to HIV care for treatment and a formal diagnosis. In many instances, rapid HIV testing is free to the public through CrescentCare’s NO/AIDS Task Force division.
