Nicholas (Nick) Van Sickels, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Nick Van Sickels earned his medical degree at the University of Kentucky in 2005. He is originally from San Antonio Texas, and has been in New Orleans for 11 years. He went to the University of Texas at Austin for undergraduate training. After graduating, he moved to New Orleans where he completed his internal medicine training at Tulane University in 2008. He went on to be a chief resident in internal medicine, and then completed his infectious disease training in 2011. Since then he has been a faculty physician at Tulane, and is now the Chief Medical Officer at CrescentCare. He enjoys teaching, global health, LGBTQ equality and rights, and advocacy for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Phoebe Askie, M.D.

Dr. Pheobe Askie is a board-certified family medicine physician from New Jersey. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania in nursing in 2008. She went on to receive her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and her MPH from Rutgers School of Public Health. She completed her family medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Houston Bonnyman, M.D.

Dr. Houston Bonnyman is a board certified family medicine physician from Nashville. He completed his MD at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, 2011, and residency training at West Suburban Family Medicine Residency in Oak Park, Il. He is also board certified in palliative and hospice medicine after completing a fellowship at Stanford University, Palo Alto, in 2015. Currently he divides his time between Crescent Care and the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Teaching and community medicine are his passions.

Brittany Brimmer, A.P.R.N.

Brittany Brimmer is a board-certified APRN, who received her Bachelor’s degree and Graduate degree in Nursing from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. With an extensive history in community health nursing, Brittany has created and maintained individual health care plans for young students with medical concerns, as well as provided direct patient care to people who are incarcerated. She is dedicated to providing competent care to all her patients, as well as her patient’s personal support systems. She has experience in Medical Surgical Nursing, Nurse Management, and is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner under the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Isolde Butler, M.D.

Dr. Isolde Butler attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology in 2001, before earning her Master of Public Health in Tropical Medicine at the Tulane School of Public Health in New Orleans, LA in 2005. She received her medical degree in the same year at the Tulane School of Medicine, and completed her residency at the Tulane University Internal Medicine Residency Program. She is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease.

Rebecca Clark, M.D.

Dr. Rebecca Clark earned her MD degree at University of Washington and also has a PhD in epidemiology from Tulane University.  She completed her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Tulane in 1987 and was Tulane faculty until 1992.  In 1992 Dr. Clark moved to LSU to be the Maternal Child Director with the HIV Outpatient Program (HOP).  She continued in this role until 2005 when the HOP program was restructured to one adult program.  Dr. Clark has been involved with HIV care for 30 years and has been nationally active in research until her departure from LSU to CrescentCare in 2015.  Dr. Clark is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.  She is Professor of Medicine with LSU and Associate Professor of Medicine with Tulane.

Amanda Clemmons, PA-C

Amanda Clemmons is a certified physician assistant from Washington State. She received an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Claremont McKenna College in 2004 and a Master’s degree in Health Sciences and Physician Assistant certification in 2014 from George Washington University in Washington, DC. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Prior to relocating to New Orleans, she worked in primary care in Maryland. Her clinical interests include preventative health and wellness for teens and adults, women’s healthcare, and diabetes care and education.

Allison Cragin, M.D.

Dr. Allison Cragin is a board certified Pediatrician. She grew up in New Orleans and completed her undergraduate degree at LSU in 2008. She went on to earn her medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 2012. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has special interests in children and youth with special healthcare needs, international child health, and advocacy for children.

Julie Dargis

Julie Dargis received a Master of Nursing in Family Practice Nurse Practitioner from LSU School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1998. She worked as an active duty nurse practitioner in the US Army from 2000-2007, serving retirees, active duty service members and their dependents. She then returned to New Orleans and worked for the HIV Outpatient Program from 2007-2016. Her patient care was focused on HIV care and primary care of patients in this population. She joined the Crescent Care Health team in 2016, where she continues to work in HIV and primary care, as well as Hepatitis C, PrEP, and transgender care. She is a Great 100 Nurse and a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, through which she is certified.

Cliff Davis, Director of Dental Services

Dr. Cliff Davis earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from UCLA School of Dentistry in 1999. His DDS included a year of additional training at the National Institutes of Health in Washington DC. He continued his formal training with a General Practice residency at the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Davis brings collectively more than 15 years of experience providing high quality care to working-class and underserved populations, and is comfortable managing oral health issues from the most basic to the most complex.

Robin Edwards, M.D.

Dr. Robin Edwards earned her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Mount Sinai University School of Medicine in Jersey City, New Jersey and at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.  She is the Obstetrics and Gynecology physician at CrescentCare Health and Wellness Center, and is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Toby Fugate, D.O.

Dr. Toby Fugate received his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in 2002. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee in 2005. Later, he completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2007. From 2007 to 2014, he was in private practice in Charleston, South Carolina. During his time in private practice in Charleston, he was the Medical Director of the Ryan White Wellness Center at St. Francis Hospital. He started practice at CrescentCare in 2014. He is Board Certified in Infectious Diseases, and is a member of the American College of Physicians.

Pat Gootee, A.P.R.N.

Pat Gootee received her BSN at LSUHSC and McNeese Universityin 1975, and her Master of Nursing degree from the Mississippi University for Women in 1994, following her graduate studies at LSUHSC. She then worked at Tulane University Student health for 4 years and then at LSUHSC in out-patient HIV clinics around the state for 10 years. She is a board certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and has been working with NO/AIDS Task Force now CrescentCare since 2009, providing medical management and primary care for patients with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, as well as women’s healthcare for HIV+ women. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and has held positions with the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners as State P.A.C. chairman, State Treasurer, and New Orleans district representative. She has an American Nurses in AIDS Care Certification, and an American Nurse Credentialing Center Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Jason Halperin, M.D.

Dr. Jason Halperin received his Master of Public Health from Columbia University in New York in 2006, and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont in 2010. He spent his residency at the Tulane University Department of Internal Medicine in New Orleans and has served on the Tulane University Medical Center Ethics Committee. Following residency, Dr. Halperin completed an infectious diseases fellowship at New York University. He returned to New Orleans in 2015 to join CrescentCare. His areas of interest are HIV, Hepatitis C and HIV preventions services such as PrEP. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tulane University’s School of Medicine. Dr. Halperin strongly believes in the importance of clinical research and is implementing clinical trials research at CrescentCare.

Nadine M. Harris, M.D.

Dr. Nadine Harris is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease.   She participated in the  Brown-Dartmouth medical Program and received her medical degree from Alpert Medical School of Brown University.  She then went on to complete internal medicine residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  After working as a hospitalist for 2 years, she went on to further training in infectious diseases at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.  Dr. Harris has a special interest in health disparities, global health and tropical medicine, and HIV care and prevention.

Bruce Hinton, P.A.

Bruce Hinton received his physician assistant certificate from the University of California in 2011, and was credentialed as an HIV specialist with the Academy of HIV Medicine in 2012.   Prior to relocating to New Orleans, he worked as a physician assistant in private practice in Los Angeles where his clinical focus was LGBTQ health, management and prevention of HIV disease, and treatment of hepatitis C infection. At Crescent Care, Hinton has focused on adult primary care, expansion of PrEP services, management and treatment of HIV and HCV infection, and the medical care of transgender persons.

Jo-Ann Jose, M.D.

Dr. Jo-Ann Jose went to Roosevelt University in Chicago for undergraduate training and Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science for medical school. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Loyola University in Chicago and is board certified in Internal Medicine. She then moved to New Orleans for her fellowship in Infectious Disease at Tulane University, which she completed in 2017. During her fellowship, she earned an MPH with a concentration in Tropical Medicine. She also works at Tulane University in the travel clinic and inpatient at University Medical Center. Her areas of interest are HIV care, HIV prevention, global health, public health, and health disparities. She believes strongly in patient centered care, shared decision-making, and comprehensive models of care that address the root causes of health disparities.

Mary Murphy, M.D.

Dr. Mary Murphy earned her medical degree from the Juan N. Corpas School of Medicine in Bogota, Colombia in 1985. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and her Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. As Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the LSU School of Medicine, Section of Infectious Diseases, she served as the Medical Director of the HIV Outpatient Program Adult Clinic from 1997-2007. She joined the medical staff at the NO/AIDS Task Force in 2007, and has served as the Medical Director of the HIV Primary Care clinic which is now CrescentCare Specialty Clinic.   She is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and HIV Medical Association.

Myo Myint, M.D.

Dr. Myo Myint serves on the American Academy of Child and Adolescent (AACAP) Training and Education Committee and co-leads the AACAP Alliance for Learning and Innovation (AALI). His clinical work includes working with sexual and gender minorities and other university students at the Tulane University Counseling and Psychological Services. He is active in advocacy efforts through multiple local and national professional organizations including Louisiana State Medical Society, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Carole Pindaro, A.P.R.N.

Carole Pindaro received her Master of Nursing from the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi in 1990, after receiving her Master of Public Health in 1984 from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She has worked exclusively with HIV since the beginning of the epidemic—first at the LSU HIV Outpatient Program known as HOP, and then with NO/AIDS Task Force in 2008, now CrescentCare. She is a certified diabetes educator, and a board certified advanced practice registered nurse. She has a special interest working in transgender care, and has been doing so for over 20 years. She has been honored on the Great 100 Nurses of Louisiana list and has earned the Merlyn Maillian Award for Clinical Excellence in Nursing.

Lorna Seybolt, M.D.

Dr. Lorna Seybolt, MD attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and received her MPH from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She completed residency training in Pediatrics in Portland and went on to fellowship training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases in Boston. She then completed clinical fellowship training in Infectious Diseases. She is on the faculty at LSU and Tulane and is a member of the medical staff at Children’s Hospital New Orleans.

Julia Siren, A.P.R.N.

Julia Siren is a board-certified APRN with certification in Women’s Health. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work at the University of Wisconsin and her Graduate degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. She has a MPH from LSUHSC, specializing in Epidemiology. She worked with LSU Infectious Disease department for 10 years providing STI care and STI clinical research. Her dual interests in PrEP and Women’s Health have led to an initiative to expand PrEP in women through female-centered PrEP clinc.

Jared Wakeman, M.D., FAPA, FASAM

Dr. Jared Wakeman attended Columbia University in New York City, where he received his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavior. He earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in 2007, and completed his residency at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, where he served as chief resident. He is board certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine. Dr. Wakeman is a Fellow with the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He joined Crescent Care full-time in 2015.

Danis Walker, P.A.

Danis Walker is a board certified physician assistant, and completed her Master of Physician Assistant Practice at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in 2008. She is a certified personal trainer with an expert rating online, and is certified in HIV prevention counseling and rapid testing. She holds a Doctorate of Divinity which she earned December 2015 from the Bethesda Biblical Institute.

Terrahney Wilson, D.D.S.

Dr. Terrahney Wilson earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2015. She went on to complete a two year general practice residency through LSU School of Dentistry at University Medical Center, where she served as chief resident in her second year. While in residency, Dr. Wilson received specialized training in moderate sedation and treating the medically complex patient. Dr. Wilson continues to serve as gratis faculty for LSU School of Dentistry. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, and National Dental Association.
